Former PNG minister Dame Carol Kidu has won an injunction against the makers of a documentary film in which she plays a prominent part.
The film The Opposition portrays her as a hero for standing up to developers razing a squatter settlement on Paga Hill in Port Moresby.
But Dame Carol says she was trying to help squatters move to better accommodation elsewhere not stop the development altogether.
The Opposition’s makers had wanted to screen the documentary at a festival in Canada.
But the New South Wales Supreme Court has granted an injunction against showing parts of the film that feature Dame Carole, and a full trial will be held in June.
Dame Carol says she has mixed feelings about the verdict.
